The Challenge

The organization’s annual compliance training had a 61% completion rate despite being mandatory. The course — a 4-hour PowerPoint-narrated slide deck — gave the compliance team no granular data on where understanding was breaking down. Legal and HR leadership flagged this as a regulatory risk and needed a complete rebuild within 90 days.

My Approach

I audited the existing content and rebuilt the course in Articulate Rise 360 as a modular microlearning series — six standalone modules averaging 20–25 minutes, organized by regulatory domain:

• Data Privacy & Information Security
• Workplace Harassment & Discrimination
• Code of Conduct & Ethics
• Health & Safety Protocols
• Conflicts of Interest & Financial Reporting
• Incident Reporting & Whistleblower Protections

Each module used Synthesia AI to generate realistic presenter video without the cost and scheduling friction of live production. Knowledge checks appeared every five minutes, not just at the end. Synthesia AI avatars were selected and scripted to reflect the organization’s workforce diversity. All modules met Section 508 standards.

Outcomes

Completion rate rose from 61% to 94% in the first compliance cycle. Average post-assessment scores increased from 67% to 81%. The compliance team could now identify specific topics where employees consistently struggled — enabling targeted follow-up rather than blanket re-training mandates.
